Teledyne Cameras Enable VR Play At TOCA Social

By Matt Williams -

Popular restaurant chain selects Teledyne’s Genie Nano cameras for its sports-themed VR restaurants.

Teledyne DALSA is pleased to announce that TOCA Social, the world’s first soccer and dining experience, has chosen Teledyne DALSA Genie Nano cameras to enable the capture of play in its interactive soccer-based competitive VR experience.

TOCA Social has created a vibrant destination to eat, drink and play, and it serves as a place where friends and family are able to kick up a storm in their own personal playing booths called boxes. Choosing from a variety of interactive soccer-based games, enabled by innovative ball delivery, and tracking technology, TOCA Social bridges the physical and digital worlds in a way never seen before.

Each box is fitted with eight Genie Nano cameras that will provide full coverage of the play area. The Genie Nano cameras track both the football and the player to determine the position and projection of the ball as it strikes the target at the far end of the booth to collect valuable points.

“Our search for a powerful, fast camera ended with the selection of the Genie Nano cameras for our boxes,” said Dr. Conrad Spiteri, TOCA Social’s Global Head of Technology. “We selected the Genie Nano for its robustness, size, ease-of-use and quick integration into this high-energy application.”

“We’re thrilled to be part of TOCA’s fast-growing soccer and dining venture,” said Jean-Pierre Luevano, International Sales Manager for Teledyne DALSA. “Our Genie Nano cameras are the perfect fit for their innovative football booths and we’re looking forward to continued partnership with TOCA in their next virtual interactive sport adventure.”

TOCA Social is the world’s first interactive football and dining experience, combining immersive gaming and world class food and drink. With a range of levels for each game, it is accessible for players of all abilities, even those who have never kicked a ball before.
