SEEPEX, the world market leader for pump technology, has won the German Innovation Award for its recently launched automated progressive cavity pump. The German Design Council distinguished the company from North Rhine-Westphalia as the 2021 winner in the category “Excellence in Business to Business – Machines & Engineering” for its SCT AutoAdjust.

“It’s all a matter of adjustment”, is how SEEPEX had described its new development last year. “Pumps are the engine of industrial processes, but so far almost none have been digitalized, so a lot of potential remains untapped”, said Dr Fabian Pöhl, Global Product Manager at SEEPEX. “The SCT AutoAdjust is the world’s first progressive cavity pump that can be automatically monitored and adjusted via a new type of hydraulic adjustment unit with digital monitoring and control technology.

“This makes it possible to compensate for wear, and the optimum operating point can be set at all times. The operating data is sent to the SEEPEX cloud, where it is analysed using AI. Maintenance can be optimized in terms of plannability, process downtime, and use of personnel and equipment. Pump performance, service life and energy consumption are improved. Thus, the SCT AutoAdjust achieves maximum process efficiency at minimum operating costs”.

The German Innovation Award recognizes cross-industry products and solutions that stand out primarily because they are user-centric and offer added value compared to previous approaches. SEEPEX is a specialist in the field of pump technology. The company’s product portfolio encompasses progressive cavity pumps, pump systems and digital solutions. SEEPEX offers solutions for pumping thin to highly viscous, aggressive and abrasive media. The company, founded in 1972, employs over 800 people in 70 countries, over 400 of which work at the Bottrop, Germany headquarters.

“Innovations that shape the future and improve lives exist in all branches of industry. Sometimes you can spot them immediately, but often this is not the case. The German Innovation Award wants to change that. It makes great achievements visible to a wide audience and ensures successful market positioning”, the organization says.

“Since 1953, the German Design Council has been promoting company competitiveness. Its international competitions award the best achievements in terms of design, brand and innovation. “Because only with a perfect attuned combination of design, brand and innovation can companies be armed for the tough competition of Industry 4.0 and digitalization”.

The German Innovation Awards 2021 developed an online programme focused on “Insights into Innovation”. It included experts discussing topics such as Smart 5.0: Connectivity, Robotics & AI, the Future of Mobility, Green Future, Future Living & Working, Lighting, Material Innovation and Medical & Health. Pre-registration for the German Innovation Awards 2022 is already open.
