Change comes from hope and hope comes from change. There’s plenty of hope going around as, dare I jinx it, Europe re-opens its borders for the last time. Naturally, we at MVPro wonder, is change following hope for the industries we cover? It’s what we aim to discover in the 26th edition of MVPro magazine, the theme of which, is change.

The biggest change, at least for us and you, is that MVPro is growing. Like the caterpillar that becomes the butterfly, we are evolving into Automate Pro Europe. Automate Pro Europe is a brand new, one-stop hub covering Europe’s machine vision, computer vision & robotics sectors. You can get all the ins and outs on the next page in our official announcement, but it includes two new dedicated magazines and all the content you need to keep you in the know.

In our featured interview, I speak with Luca Verre, CEO and Co-founder of Prophesee, the French imaging company and leader of the revolutionary, event-based sensor technology. In a Q&A, Dr Maximilian Lückenhaus, Director Marketing + Business Development at MVTec Software GmbH, lays out his predictions on the future of machine vision.

In “Changing Lanes”, I peer into the crystal ball to examine the future of transport, which includes some of the finest European start-ups making self-driving cars, flying taxis and magnet powered trains a reality. For “Five IoT Pioneers”, I take a deep dive into the five winners of the 12th IoT World Cup as selected during last month’s Hannover Messe. Bee monitoring, smart plugs, life-saving biometrics, a battery made of paper and AI that knows when a machine will break by listening to it all feature.

We also hear from Materialise, who look back at the past three decades, highlighting how the industry has advanced. Mitsubishi Electric showcase how it helped modernise a forty-year-old company’s manufacturing of mochi ice cream. Euresys discuss its new EasyLocate technology, whilst Xilinx explains why robots, telehealth and open embedded systems are the trends to watch in 2021.

We hope you enjoy this forward-thinking and final edition of MVPro magazine. We will be back soon with the first edition of Automate Pro Europe, changed and fully charged. Take care and remember to be hopeful.
