Lanner Electronics, a global leader in SDN/NFV network appliances and rugged applied computing platforms, announces that its hyper-converged infrastructure appliance, the FX-3420, and Edge AI Appliance, LEC-2290, have been officially validated as NGC-Ready Server for Edge computing platforms.

In a configuration with NVIDIA® T4 GPUs, Lanner network appliances have been tested for functionality, performance, and ease of deployment to AI frameworks and virtualized, disaggregated 5G ready network architecture.

“NGC-Ready validation of Lanner network appliances helps our customers across industries accelerate their hyper-converged AI-enabled application deployments at the edge”, said Jeans Tseng, CTO of Lanner. “In the case of telecom, for instance, customers can bring Edge AI to advance an array of applications – from 5G Open RAN to edge data centres, private networks, and MEC”.

The NGC-Ready validation process included extensive testing on the FX-3420 and LEC-2290 for a wide range of applications for on-premise, cloud and edge deployments. For customers, this means Lanner’s validated network appliances can help leverage the range of NVIDIA GPU-accelerated software available for real-time intelligent decision making. They can also easily migrate workflow compute environments including both hybrid and multi-cloud implementations, run GPU-optimized software on bare metal servers or on virtualized environments, and maximize utilization of GPUs and network interoperability.

The company also announced that it has joined MEF, the world’s leading industry forum of network, cloud and technology providers, to accelerate the development of Whitebox Solutions™ for SD-WAN, Open RAN, MEC and SASE. By closely collaborating with over 200 leading global organizations, Lanner aims to deliver a full range of MEF 3.0-certified network appliances that address the industry’s challenges in network disaggregation and ensure seamless interoperation for next-gen 5G communication

The announcement marks what is Lanner’s first NVIDIA NGC-ready platform.

The trend of network disaggregation has driven the digital transformation for service providers, starting from uCPE, SD-WAN, to MEC and O-RAN. Since 2018, Lanner uCPE Platforms has been deployed in enterprises, retail chains, and distributed branches for more than 200,000 devices. With multiple successful deployment cases in diversified client environments, the company claims to be the leading hardware solution provider behind major SD-WAN services, providing pre-validated and pre-integrated white box appliances to ease the difficulties in the rollout of virtualization services in a multi-vendor orchestration and VNF environment.

MEF 3.0 Global Services Framework represents the most cutting-edge standards for defining, delivering, and certifying assured digital services, orchestrated across a global ecosystem of automated networks. MEF’s SD WAN and forthcoming SASE service standards and APIs provide an application-centric, policy-driven, high-performance Overlay Digital Service to enable a fully orchestrated fabric for service providers delivering new, revenue-generating digital services to the enterprise.

“Joining the MEF with MEF 3.0-certified products is our next big step to ensure that features of Lanner Whitebox Solutions™ can be seamlessly synchronized with the leading service providers”, said Tseng. “MEF serves to facilitate implementation of new standards, build consensus and unite service providers and hardware equipment vendors. By defining the architecture, protocols, and management of next-gen network virtualization technologies, MEF empowers Lanner to efficiently and cost-effectively deliver network appliances deployed for SD-WAN and SASE applications to the managed service providers on a global scale”.

Lanner Electronics Inc is a world-leading provider of design, engineering and manufacturing services for
advanced network appliances and rugged applied computing platforms for system integrators, service
providers and application developers.

Lanner will be taking part in the NVIDIA GTC 2021 Conference as a 2021 PLATINUM partner (April 12-16). Registration is free and gives you access to all the live sessions, interactive panels, demos, research posters, and more.
